Prayer is not simply a priority at Emmanuel; prayer is a defining characteristic of who we are. Jesus quotes from Isaiah 56 when He states, “My house will be called a house of prayer (Matt 21:13, Mark 11:17, Luke 19:46).” We take this title very seriously. Prayer is our lifeline with God. Emmanuel Christian Center has a long history of seeking God in prayer corporately and individually.
Currently, in addition to many grassroots opportunities to pray with others in classes and LifeGroups on and off of our campus, we offer several ways to grow in your prayer life.
Emmanuel Prays: Sensing a desire for a more focused, non-distracted time of corporate prayer each month, we have set aside one Sunday evening each month for a powerful time of corporate prayer and worship. This is a multi-generational, multi-ethnic time of worship. Many songs are sung in Spanish and English, and headset translations available. See your bulletin or check out the “News and Events” section of our website for the date of the next Emmanuel Prays.
The Prayer Ministry Team: Our Senior Pastor, Pastor Dwight Denyes, felt led to begin this ministry in 2009. The Prayer Ministry Team is a group of several hundred people who have committed to pray for Emmanuel and its people for an hour a week, every week. This team receives an email update each Monday from Pastor Dwight outlining the things that God is doing through Emmanuel and the prayer needs for that week. You can join this team by emailing Pastor Dwight or calling the church office at 763-784-7777.
Five Friends Initiative: We believe that all things are possible with prayer. We challenge each person to pray daily for five of their friends, co-workers, or family members who do not have a relationship with Jesus Christ. You can find a 5 Friends card to put in your Bible in the back of any pew in the Sanctuary.
The Prayer Room: On the second floor directly above our Door 1 entrance is a room specifically set aside for prayer and is open whenever the building is open. You may find yourself in solitude in this room, or you may find a small group already gathered seeking God together.
Anointing Service: On the first Sunday morning of the month, in each of our morning services, we invite all of those with any type of prayer need (physical, relational, emotional, financial, etc.) to come to the front during a portion of our service. You will be anointed with oil and prayed for in faith by one of our staff members, Elders, Deacons, or LifeGroup leaders. Each month we hear dramatic stories of answered prayer.
Altar Ministry: After each of our services, there are men and women (staff members, Deacons, Elders, and LifeGroup leaders) available at the front of the Sanctuary to pray for any needs you may have.
